Rising Scholars

Gadsden, Ala.—In April 2019, the Honors Committee at Gadsden State Community College selected 32 students to the inaugural class of Rising Scholars.

Rising Scholars are nominated and selected by the faculty of each division of the College. To be eligible, students must have a 3.5 minimum GPA, complete 30-53 credit hours by the end of the spring semester and exhibit service to the college, demonstrate leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, demonstrate leadership in community and by participating in at least one extracurricular activity.

Students selected are:

Ta'Dallious Brown, Dezaray Dean, Christa Guy, Cana Henry, Tyler Kelly and Haley Sims, all of Anniston; Abeba Dickens and Rayley Nelson, both of Attalla; Jay Crandell, Charles Kerry Griffith, Maggie Grizzard, Kirsten Holderfield, Landon Johnson, Jessica Nunnally and Jeremy Wilson, all of Gadsden; Alexis King and Brianna Putman, both of Jacksonville; Melani Alward and Desiree Andrews, both of Leesburg; Kristin Flanery and Fenny Patel, both of Rainbow City; Dawson Boggs and Jennifer Clark, both of Southside; Felicia Fleming of Ashville; Kyle Burgess of Centre; Emily Bobo of Fort Payne; Javin O’Barr of Gallant; Gracen Oswalt of Heflin; Nicholas Ford of Ragland; Emily Smith of Weaver; ShelbiDawn East of Temple, Ga.; and Seoyoung Park of South Korea.
